The impact of income diversification on the stability of Vietnamese joint-stock commercial banks

Abstract
This study
investigates the impact of income diversification on the financial stability of
Vietnamese joint-stock commercial banks over the period 2012 - 2024. The
findings show that income diversification has a positive and statistically
significant effect on financial stability, implying that an appropriate
expansion of non-interest income sources helps banks reduce dependence on
traditional lending activities and enhance resilience to risk. Based on these
results, the study proposes managerial recommendations for banks and policy
implications to promote income diversification alongside strengthened safety
and stability of Vietnam’s banking system.
